The form and structure of the Hill House Chair represents one of the most celebrated icons of the Glasgow Style. The chair has a tall square-gridded back, which references Mackintosh's interest in Japanese architecture and geometric modernism; its construction and detailing references his interest in Scottish vernacular joinery. The chair functions as a piece of sculpture. Handmade in stained black ash with a seat cushion upholstered in red leather. Although very well fabricated, please note this is not the Cassina reproduction and the age and origin of this is unknown.
