A handmade reproduction Hill House chair originally designed in 1903 by Scottish architect and designer Charles Rennie Mackintosh (1868 – 1928) for the main bedroom of Hill House in Helensburgh. The form and structure of the Hill House Chair represents one of the most celebrated icons of the Glasgow Style. The chair has a tall square-gridded back, which references Mackintosh's interest in Japanese architecture and geometric modernism; its construction and detailing references his interest in Scottish vernacular joinery. The chair functions as a piece of sculpture. Handmade in stained black ash with a seat cushion upholstered in red leather. Although very well fabricated, please note this is not the Cassina reproduction and the age and origin of this is unknown. Please see photos, condition description, size and delivery details.
