A sculptural book display stand made from a folded piece of stainless steel propped up on the shoulder of a stylised cast pewter figure. The figure is in her earlier style, hand cast with tool and casting marks. The figure is impressed C. Boyes S. Africa 2001 to underside. Carrol Boyes (1954-2019) was a South African artist known for her playful 'functional art' sculptural homeware. Books for scale, not included. Please see photos and condition description.
Size: Total length when assembled: 44cms long, 14cms wide, 13cms tall approx. The figure is 14cms long, 5.5cms tall.
Condition: Some casting irregularities and hand finished marks to figure; patina and a little dulling to the figure; some scratches and scuffs to the polished stainless steel; missing pin with hole to the shoulder of the figure and the book stand to secure (seen clearly in photo 14, this does not affect the stability and could be replaced with a nail or similar but isn't really necessary), otherwise generally in good vintage condition.
