Collectable David Marshall brutalist style Disenos sculptural table mat/trivet/tray/salver suitable as a decorative piece on a table or desk. Made from hand sand cast pieces of brass and aluminium, with obviously hand made qualities and casting imperfections and a hand filed and filled finish. Lacquered surface. Trademark leather underside. Fabricated by the artist, designer and sculptor David Marshall (b. 1942) in Spain in the 1980s, this piece was sourced in Scotland (David Marshall is originally from Edinburgh). Size: 38.5cms x 27.5cms approx. Heavy, nearly 2kg.
Condition: Some slight patina variation, small marks, scratches to lacquer finish, some small spots of tarnish, some small water marks and one spot of verdigris. In obviously handmade condition with associated imperfections, irregularities, casting marks and hand finishing. The trademark leather underside is coming away from the metal a little in places and is a little marked and worn otherwise in good - very good vintage condition.
