A brutalist large tabletop centrepiece in the form of a stylised sculptural leaf. Made from solid hand sand cast brass. Lovely mark making with casting imperfections, obviously hand made tactile qualities and a hand filled finish with tool marks (no two of Marshall's cast pieces are the same). Fabricated by the artist, designer and sculptor David Marshall (b. 1942) in Spain in the 1980s, this were sourced in Scotland (David Marshall is originally from Edinburgh). Stamped with the artist's monogram.
Size: 46cms long, 20cms wide, 4.5cms at tallest approx. Very heavy, 3.4kg approx.
Condition: Uncleaned and unpolished with slightly dull patina with some finish variation; some light marks and tiny spots of tarnish and verdigris; some age darkening; some colour and tone variation and remains of a sticker to underside; light general scratches and scuffs; more visible scratches to underside. In obviously handmade condition with associated imperfections (lots of sand casting imperfections) and obvious hand finishing. Otherwise in good - very good vintage condition.
