Wonderful sculptural set of wooden geometric solids, used in teaching solid geometry and mathematics in school. I believe these are 1950s and from Eastern Europe. Lovely age darkened colour and scale, some great drawn and painted markings. Please see photos and condition description:
Size: The tallest piece (cone shape with detachable top) is 12cms tall, the cube is 6cms tall for scale.
Please see below for a condition description of each piece (from left to right in the second photo):
Sphere: I am not completely sure if this is from the original set as the wood has a different grain and different wear, but it was acquired with it and I am including it anyway as looks good in contrast. This is in very good condition except for one split in the wood grain near edge.
Cuboid: lots of scratches/chips/marks/colour variation, lines and inscriptions in pen and pencil, some little impressed holes maybe made by a compass? chipped corners and dented edges.
Pyramid with detachable top: blunted top, shape mismatch between both parts, general scratches/chips/dents/marks, some pencil lines, chipped and dented corners and edges, lovely pencil drawn lines. Painted 4 on base.
Cone: Slightly blunted top, general scratches/chips/dents/marks. chipped and dented edges, one of the chips seems to have been filled in with contrasting filler, Wonderful painted 5 on base in gloss oil paint.
Cone with detachable top: blunted top, shape mismatch between both parts and the top sits a little loose on the Botton, general scratches/chips/dents/marks, some chips and dents to edges, lovely large painted 6 on the base in gloss paint.
Cube: lots of scratches/chips/dents/marks, lines and inscriptions in pencil, lovely cross drawn in pencil, some little impressed holes maybe made by a compass?, some ink spots, chipped and dented corners.
