Iconic collectable brutalist style sand cast brass and aluminium interlocking organic faceted form pen holder/vessel. Designed and made by sculptor and artist David Marshall in Spain as part of his Disenos collection. Wonderful raw hand made tactile qualities, air bubbles and lovely imperfections and a hand filed and filled finish. No two of these are exactly the same and the process is evident in the finished piece. Trademark leather printed base. Heavy. Fabricated by the artist, designer and sculptor David Marshall (b. 1942) in Spain, this piece was sourced in Scotland (David Marshall is originally from Edinburgh). Stamped 'dm' by the artist. Size: 12cms tall, 8.5cms at widest approx. Heavy, approx 750g.
Condition: The lacquer finish is a little scratches and scuffed. Some patina variation, a little dulled, some occasional subtle mottled marks to lacquer. Obviously hand made in quality with lots of wonderful little irregularities. Clean inside but with some residue left from the casting process. The leather base is worn and marked and coming away from the base at the edges. Otherwise in very good condition.
